About Us
FamilyConnect was created by Lesley Russell, a mother and Internet Marketing Consultant (Hunter Analytics) and launched in 2007.
Lesley's motivation for creating this resource is to provide a site for mothers, parents, grandparents and carers to find the information they need to raise happy and healthy adults in one place.
In 2006, Lesley moved from Brisbane to Perth with her 6 month old son. Away from familiar surroundings and only knowing a few people, Lesley went in search of reliable and family friendly businesses, events, activities and services that her family required.
Knowing that many other parents experience the same situation on a daily basis, Lesley started work on FamilyConnect.
Vision
To offer FamilyConnect.com.au as a first choice resource, service and tool to help Australian families connect and interact with their local communities.
A family friendly community is achieved when:
- Children are valued, supported, respected and actively included
- Parents and guardians are supported to raise healthy and happy adults through active and accessible social and support networks
- Local businesses and services provide the basic physical needs of food, clothing, shelter and health and the developmental needs of education and opportunities for community members to grow socially, culturally, physically and spiritually.
Mission and Key Strategies
To help build and maintain family friendly communities and stronger community relationships, FamilyConnect.com.au will:
- collect and disseminate relevant information via the Internet that will assist parents and children to become actively involved in their local community
- provide contact details for local support and social networks that parents and guardians can find quickly and easily
- offer an cost effective advertising channel for local businesses and services to reach families and promote their family-friendly goods and services directly to people that require them
